As a smaller SUV, the 2023 Chevy Trailblazer has the advantage of offering exceptional fuel efficiency without compromising performance. In addition to offering available all-wheel drive, this two-row crossover is also surprisingly spacious inside, with room for up to five passengers and best-in-class rear seat legroom. If you’re just now hearing about this latest edition, here’s a guide to cover its key features and all the reasons why you shouldn’t wait to take it for a test drive.

Your Guide to the 2023 Chevy Trailblazer

Performance

Two peppy engines are available for this edition of the Trailblazer, both of which are turbocharged Ecotec I-4 engines. The first is a 1.2-liter that produces 137 horsepower, while the other is a 155-horsepower 1.3-liter. With Auto Start/Stop technology and an estimated 33 mpg on highways, this SUV’s perfect for those looking for excellent fuel economy.

The available all-wheel-drive system allows you to leave the pavement with ease, as it automatically adjusts traction based on your surroundings, and you can quickly switch between AWD, Sport, or Normal mode with the three-mode driving system, which offers a Snow mode instead of AWD in front-wheel-drive models.

Interior

Although it’s sporty outside, the Trailblazer’s interior is surprisingly comfortable and luxurious, with available features like a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, leatherette seats that come in Jet Black with Arizona accents, and automatic climate control.

When you have more cargo than passengers, the rear 40/60 split-folding seat can easily accommodate this, and even more space can be made with the convenient flat-folding front passenger seat, a unique find in any vehicle.

Technology

In addition to the impressive Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system, which provides Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Compatibility, as well as multiple entertainment options on an available eight-inch diagonal touchscreen, this Trailblazer also offers a 15-inch diagonal Head-Up Display, which reduces distractions by putting helpful driving information in front of you along the lower area of the vehicle’s windshield.

If you opt for the Adaptive Cruise Control, you’ll love how the vehicle automatically stays at a pre-designated speed while adjusting this to maintain its distance from vehicles in front of you.

Safety

As a sure sign that Chevy takes safety seriously, there are also many advanced monitoring systems in the SUV, including Forward Collision Alert and Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone alert. The first system warns you when it detects other vehicles in your path that you may be at risk of colliding with, while the other displays a warning alert in your side mirror if another vehicle has either entered or is approaching one of your blind spots.

When backing out of tight parking spaces, the HD Rear Vision Camera can help you see what’s behind the vehicle in full color, and to help you keep a safe distance from other vehicles, the Following Distance Indicator can tell you just how far away you are.

Luxurious, versatile, and ready to spice up your everyday drives and road trips with its cutting-edge technology, the 2023 Trailblazer offers it all. Come start your adventures with this fun-loving SUV by scheduling your test drive with us at Crain Chevrolet today.

Your engine is very complex and depends on hundreds of different parts working in unison to generate the power that allows your car to move. If any part of your engine is damaged, your Chevy dealer can repair it for you. These are a few of the engine problems we can repair.

3 Engine Problems You Should Always Fix at Your Chevy Dealer

Worn Engine Mounts

Your engine is attached to the car body by two engine mounts. These mounts are designed to absorb both the vibrations produced by the engine and the vibrations from your car’s movement. The mounts are made from rubber, and they’re filled with a glycol/water mixture to absorb and dissipate vibrations. In time, these mounts can become worn or damaged.

Damaged mounts can leak, and if this happens, liquid will leak out. The loss of liquid reduces the amount of cushioning effect, and you’ll feel thumps or vibrations when you drive. The engine won’t break loose, but the vibrations are unpleasant and can lead to engine damage if the problem isn’t fixed. We’ll examine your mounts and replace them if they’re damaged.

Dirty Intake Manifold

The intake manifold is part of your engine where fuel and air mix. These two elements must mix in a precise ratio before they are drawn into the cylinders. The fuel-air mix will enter the cylinders where it’s compressed and then ignited at a precise moment to produce combustion. Your engine requires more air than fuel for combustion, so the mixture must be 14:1 air to fuel.

Fuel contains carbon, and tiny carbon deposits can be left behind each time fuel enters the manifold. If these carbon deposits build up sufficiently, they can affect the fuel-air mixture by reducing the amount of air. A high percentage of fuel in the mixture will turn your engine fuel-rich, and this can lead to starting problems, misfiring, and other issues. We can clean a dirty manifold to fix this problem.

Damaged Ignition Coils

Every driver knows that the spark plugs produce the spark that ignites the fuel-air mixture. Igniting the mixture requires a powerful electrical charge, and a spark plug produces 12 volts. Each spark plug has an ignition coil connected to it that produces 50,000 volts which is more than sufficient to initiate combustion.

The coils can wear out due to age, and they can be damaged by other problems in the engine. A weak alternator, worn spark plugs, and other issues can result in one or more coils failing. A damaged coil will prevent its attached spark plug from correctly igniting a cylinder’s contents, and that cylinder will misfire. We’ll test your ignition coils and replace any damaged ones.

If your engine exhibits any signs of trouble, call our service department at Crain Chevrolet.

A healthy catalytic converter is important for your car. It allows your engine to operate efficiently while preventing toxic chemicals from being released into the atmosphere from combustion. Over time, the converter can become damaged or fail, and you’ll need to visit your Chevy dealer. These are some of the signs that your converter is failing.

Signs You Need a New Catalytic Converter From Your Chevy Dealer

Check Engine Light Illuminates

An illuminated check engine light is always a sign of trouble. The light connects to your car’s computer, and it’s activated if one of your engine sensors detects a problem with a component. If your converter develops a problem, a sensor will inform our computer of the problem, and the light will illuminate. Your computer logs this problem with an error code to speed up diagnosis.

If your converter is blocked or failing, this will create problems. A blocked converter forces combustion gases back into the engine instead of into the exhaust system. These gases increase the pressure in the engine and can cause it to shut down. A failed converter will trigger the light by allowing toxic gases to escape the exhaust. We’ll connect your car to our diagnosis system to identify the problem and then we’ll repair it.

Rotten Egg Smell

Hydrogen sulfide is a corrosive and toxic chemical that’s created during combustion. It has a strong stench of rotten eggs. When your converter is working correctly, hydrogen sulfide is converted into harmless sulfur dioxide. If you smell rotten eggs when you’re driving, the only possible causes are a failing car battery or a damaged converter.

A damaged converter will cause the exhaust to emit black exhaust smoke. This smoke is filled with harmful chemicals and will cause your car to fail an emissions test. There are several reasons for a damaged converter, including a high fuel-air mixture in the engine, failed oxygen sensors, or simply due to age. We’ll examine your converter and install a new one to fix the problem.

Rattling From the Converter

Converting harmful gases requires a large surface area. The converter isn’t a large component, but it has a honeycomb interior that maximizes its space. A honeycomb is strong, but it can become damaged due to age. The constant high pressure and temperature in the converter can take their toll on this structure, and it can develop cracks.

The pressure and heat will cause cracks to expand, and pieces of the honeycomb can break off. These pieces will rattle around inside the converter as your car moves. This situation will get worse as the missing sections weaken the remainder of the structure. We can’t repair a damaged honeycomb, but we can replace the converter to fix this problem.

If your converter seems to be failing, call us at Crain Chevrolet.

When it comes to road safety, your tires are literally where the rubber meets the road. Thousands of car accidents are caused each year by tire failure. But with proper tire care and prompt replacement of worn-out or damaged tires, you’re unlikely to ever experience a skid or blowout. If you ever notice the following six issues, visit your local Chevy dealer for new tires right away.

Does Your Chevy Need New Tires?

Shallow Tread Depth

The lifespan of tires usually ranges from four to six years. Even with perfect upkeep, tire tread depth eventually diminishes until it’s no longer safe for driving.

As in most states, Arizona has a minimum legal tread depth of 2/32 of an inch. Periodically measure the tread depth on your tires, and when it approaches this figure, it’s best to have your tires replaced.

Blistering Tire Rubber

A tire with visible blisters in the rubber isn’t safe to drive upon and should also be replaced. Blisters often indicate internal damage: perhaps even an internal puncture.

When the inner tubing of a tire becomes punctured by a severe impact with a pothole or curb, the air can start to leak out. It then becomes trapped under the upper rubber layers, causing the blistering.

Deep Cuts or Cracks

Rather like human wrinkles, tiny cuts, and cracks are a harmless sign of age in most tires. But when a cut or crack is deep and long, extending to the edge of the rubber, the structural integrity of that tire might be compromised.

Piercing Objects

Tires sometimes pick up sharp stones, nails, screws, or pieces of broken glass from the road. If you find an object like this piercing your tire rubber, pull it out to see if it is concealing a puncture.

Persistent Air Loss

Sometimes punctures can be very small and subtle. You might only notice a steady inexplicable loss of air from one particular tire.

Any such persistent air loss should be treated with suspicion. If you even suspect a puncture, it’s safest to change the tire before you have a blowout.

Reduced Handling

As a Chevy driver, you know how smooth your handling ordinarily is. If your handling starts to worsen, your tires might be wearing down unevenly, or one of them could be damaged. Examine all four tires with care, and it might be best to have a technician take a look.

Have Your Tires Checked at Your Local Chevy Dealer

It’s generally recommended to have your tires rotated every six months. This also gives the technician a chance to inspect your tires for any signs of harm and provide you with a rough prediction of how much longer they’ll last. In addition to this, it’s good maintenance practice to check your own tire pressure and condition at least once a month.

Have your tires examined, rotated, or replaced today at Crain Chevrolet. We’ve been proudly assisting

Meet the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500

Engines and Versatility

This edition’s four engines offer plenty of different strengths, with horsepower ranging from 305 with the 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine to an impressive 420 horses with the largest engine, a 6.2-liter V8. Every engine comes with Auto Start/Stop technology, which can save you fuel when waiting in traffic, and two quiet-shifting automatic transmissions are available, an eight-speed and a 10-speed, depending on which engine you go with.

In addition to an optional four-wheel-drive system, the Silverado 1500’s off-road abilities are enhanced by the available Off-Road Suspension Package and underbody skid plates, leaving few places where this truck can’t go. Its towing capabilities and payload strength are also impressive, as it can haul a trailer weighing up to 13,300 pounds or carry up to 2,260 pounds of cargo in the bed.

Interior and Exterior

Inside the truck, the cabin offers plenty of ways to get comfortable on long road trips, including heated seats in the front and rear of the vehicle, dual-zone climate control for times when you and your passengers can’t agree on a specific temperature, and a 40/20/40 split-bench seat that hides an under-seat storage area.

Outside the vehicle, the innovative Multi-Flex Tailgate can be used for six different purposes, including as a step for climbing in the truck or as a durable work surface. The available heated power mirrors will certainly be appreciated in colder temperatures, and to keep cargo secure, there’s a hard-folding tonneau cover available as well.

Technology and Safety

The Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System combines smartphone connectivity, entertainment, and navigation assistance in a single feature that offers both voice command technology and an optional 13.4-inch diagonal touchscreen display. The Head-Up Display, with its 15-inch diagonal screen, helps to prevent distractions by putting key information on the windshield in front of you.

Of the many innovative safety features found in this truck, a few standouts include Forward Collision Alert and the Following Distance Indicator. The first system can both detect and warn you whenever vehicles or objects are in your path, while the other can tell you just how close you are to vehicles in front of you on highways.

The 2023 Silverado 1500’s comfortable cabin, praiseworthy performance, and first-class tech features help to distinguish it from other full-size pickups. To see this unique Chevy truck up close, reach out to us today at Crain Chevrolet.

While certain vehicle market categories are teeming with options, such as the mid-size luxury sedan class, others are lacking in unique choices. One such category is family-size SUVs, and those with bigger families who enjoy vacations are beginning to feel left out. The Chevy Traverse has arrived just in time to offer families a refreshing option with a high-quality drive, comfort that lasts for long trips, the latest safety technology, and a price tag that’s just right.

Basics About the Chevy Traverse

Engine and Specs

The base model Traverse gets its power from a 3.6-liter V6 engine with automatic Stop/Start and a nine-speed automatic transmission. The Driver Mode Selector comes standard and allows you to control how your Traverse responds to the current driving conditions. You can toggle between modes such as four-wheel drive, trailering, and inclement weather.

New/Unique 2023 Traverse Features

Chevy Safety Assist

Forward Collision Alert

This included safety system has automatic emergency braking. It will watch the space in front of your vehicle via radar technology, and it’s capable of giving you ample warning to avoid a collision if it senses one. It will provide audio and visual tailgating alerts when you’re too close to the vehicle ahead. It’s also able to provide additional braking power to your pedal presses.

Front Pedestrian Braking

Just like the Forward Collision Alert, this makes use of your Traverse’s integrated front-end camera to detect potential collision objects ahead of you. This could include cyclists as well as pedestrians, and it will alert you visually and audibly if you aren’t slowing down when it senses the person. This feature can also apply the brakes for you if necessary.

IntelliBeam Automatic High Beams

This system watches the front of your vehicle and can turn off the high beams on your behalf if it senses an oncoming vehicle.

Following Distance Indicator and Lane Keep Assist

The Following Distance Indicator uses a camera on your windshield to measure the gap between you and the car ahead. It can help you maintain a safe distance by warning you if you get too close. Lane Keep Assist can sense if you’re about to drift into a neighboring lane. It will gently nudge the steering wheel back to the center of your lane as a reminder.
