1. The Old Mill
If you’re a movie buff, you’ll like this historic location. The Old Mill is located inside a 3-acre site officially known as the T.R. Pugh Memorial Park, and is featured as the opening scene for the movie “Gone With The Wind.” Most of the area is sculpted out of concrete and is designed to look like real wood – this technique is called a faux bois. Open all year round, this is certainly a spot to add to your list.
2. Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden
For this location, you can hop in your new 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer LT and take a quick 5-minute drive from the downtown River Market area of Little Rock. This special garden will invite you to take photos, wander among nature, and consider a multitude of different art forms. This sculpture garden is also a riverfront attraction, meaning you get two incredible views for the price of one!
3. Junction Bridge
This bridge is a pedestrian bridge that connects Little Rock to North Little Rock, so you don’t have to worry about cars. Originally built as a railroad bridge in 1884, this structure has a lot of beautiful history to it as well as a unique design. If you’re out at night, you may even have the chance to witness the bridge lit up by multi-colored lights. Parking is directly below the bridge, and free.
4. Pinnacle Mountain State Park
Want to take a quick drive to hike up a local mountain? Try out this state park – just remember to bring water with you! There are multiple different trails, but if you’re up for a challenge, we suggest parking at the visitor center and hiking up to the Rocky Valley Trail, and then to the scenic overlook near the East Quarry Trail. It’s roughly a 2.5-hour hike and can be steep, but the final view will be worth it!
At the top, you’ll be able to see a couple of small lakes, the Arkansas River, Little Rock, and thick forest all around you. For this view, make sure to wear tough-soled hiking shoes, as there are a lot of loose stones on this trail.
